  • Life expectancy for a Coton is in the mid to late teens.

  • The Coton is an excellent "alarm" dog when they see or hear
something our of the ordinary.  They are not necessary considered
    Yappy.

  • After the adult coat comes in it will require brushing a few times a
week.  Most Coton owners find this a quiet time for them and a  good
time to bond with their Coton. Luxurious white coat aside, the Coton's
personality is one to be admired.

  • The Coton is sweet-natured and puts family first,  an excellent
addition to any family.  However, like all small breeds, adult
supervision is needed with children and Coton.  Small children need
to be taught how to handle a small dog.

  • The Coton don't care what they're doing so long as they are
interacting with  their human.  They mostly enjoy snuggling and being
spoiled, and  will shadow their human everywhere.  They just want to
be with you and to please you.

  • Often they have a goofy smile, where they pull up one side of their lip
    when you talk to them.

  • Trainability is high with a moderate activity level, and are good with
other pets. The Coton prey drive is low.

  • Luxating patellas (slipping kneecaps) is a known health problem.
